Join us in Newcastle and hear about the various stages of the Workers Compensation claims cycle, including ways to respond to maximise the best outcome for your employees and your business.


This session will include different scenario's of more complex workplace injuries and look at what to expect through the claim lifecycle, as well as different approaches to the complexities that may present along the way.

Our guest Derick Borean from the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association, will discuss the role a rehabilitation provider can play to support the return to work process and address some of the challenges during the claim lifecycle.


You will also hear about;

  • How to respond after experiencing a workplace injury and the initial requirements
  • The decision making process with regards to liability
  • The role of rehabilitation providers and how they can support your business
  • Strategies to address complexities during a workers compensation claim
  • How your premium is calculated and how to minimise the impact a claim can have on your premium and your business


You will be provided with take away tips, tools & useful links to support your workers and your business. You'll also have access to icare representatives to answer any specific questions or queries.

Adam has over 30 years experience in the workers compensation industry. He has worked as a case manager and held senior management roles at large insurance companies and rehabilitation providers.

Adam is passionate about supporting businesses to promote safe and healthy workplaces, including harnessing the health benefits of good work for their employees returning from injury.

Adam joined icare in 2018 as a Regional Relationship Manager. Working across Sydney and the south of NSW, Adam connects businesses with the information they need, and delivers education on topics our customers have identified for their regions.

Derick Borean - National President of the Australian Rehab Providers Association.

Derick is an Occupational Therapist with a Masters of Business specialising in Personal Injury. He has worked across rehabilitation and workplace health for more than 20 years and is passionate about the role of work in supporting the recovery and wellbeing of people and organisations across the country.
